2010-2011 Scholarship Applications Posted; Applications Must Be Postmarked by May 7, 2010

The Arkansas Environmental Federation, a business group with over 300 member companies, has provided more than $75,000 in scholarship awards to 34 students since 1992. The association awards the scholarships to assist students who intend to pursue business and or education careers, specifically those that will address the regulatory concerns of industry with regard to sound science legislation and conservation and stewardship of Arkansas' environment.

The AEF offers two scholarships each spring: the Randall Mathis Scholarship for Environmental Studies and the Larry Wilson Scholarship for Environmental Studies. Each scholarship is worth $2,500. Scholarship applications are typically avaliable in the spring of each year.

The scholarships are named in honor of Randall Mathis of Arkadelphia, the longtime director of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality who currently sits on the Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission, and Larry Wilson, who also served many years with ADEQ. Both scholarships are administered by the AEF.

Scholarship applications and guidelines for each of the scholarships are now avaliable for downloading below. All applications must be postmaked by Friday, May 7, 2010. Scholarship decisions will be made and announced in May.

Ever considered a donation to the AEF's Public Education Fund but wondered how where the money goes?

In the past four years, money from the Pub Ed fund has helped scholarship more than 110 students from 12 different Arkansas colleges and universities to our convention at no expense to the students.

In the past 18 years, money from the Pub Ed fund has helped reward hundreds of Arkansas high school science fair participants for their dedication and hard work through prize money.

Since 1992, money from the AEF's Pub Ed fund has helped fund more than $75,000 in scholarships for graduate and undergraduate environmental studies students around Arkansas.

And that's only scratching the surface of what your donation does. We sincerely thank each of our Public Education and Randall Mathis sponsors, and if you've never thought about giving to either fund, we ask you to consider a donation today. Without the support of our sponsors, the AEF cannot continue support Arkansas students at the same levels we have for more than 30 years.
